Origins of Tulips

Historically, these blooms were brought from Turkish lands to be predominantly planted in Holland, but tulips can now be found in Australia and even any vast green lands possessing a cool climate!

Peak Season!

Typically reaching the peak of their blooms between March and May, tulips possess a large selection of shapes: they can either be shaped like flutes or cups; and have fringed and feathered edges – making them one of the most versatile blooms for floral arrangements!

Symbolisation of Tulips

Tulips generally symbolise a form of perfect love. Like many blooms, different colours of tulips also often carry their own significance.

Red tulips are commonly associated with true love, while purple symbolises royalty;

Whereas white tulips may express forgiveness, respect, purity and honour

Caring for Tulips

As foliage possesses many nutrients that are moved back into the bulbs, please avoid removing untidy dying foliage – or at least wait until the leaves die right down. To keep cut tulips fresh and vigorous, do ensure the blooms are carefully placed in vases with cold water changed every day or two to prolong its lifespan. Do note that flowers kept in a cool location in a room will also last much longer!

Science of Tulips

Fresh cut tulips are geotropic and phototropic, meaning that their growth is affect by gravity and light, respectively. As these blooms will always curve upwards and bend towards sources of light, please ensure there are adequate light sources around its vicinity to prolong their lifespan.
